Three women that I currently admire are AOC (Alexandria Ocasio Cortez) a US representative from New York's 14th congressional district. She was a waitress and activist - those are two words that you typically do not hear together and I love it! Not only did she win her congressional seat without having the typical politician background but she beat a long-standing congressman. This shows me that gone are the days where you must have the perfect political experience to lead. Let this be encouragement that there is power when you lead by your convictions no matter how unconventional they may seem. The other woman that I admire is Meghan Markle Duchess of Sussex. Beyond taking my coveted dream job of being a princess (you can roll your eyes if you want but everyone in middle school knew that my life goal was to marry a prince and be a princess I was so convinced of this) however, Meghan is more than a princess. She is an activist who fights for the rights of woman and those who may not have the means to help themselves. Did you also know that she wanted to become a diplomat when she was in college and majored in international studies! She had a stint in Argentina but determined that she didn't want to be so far away from her family. So it's only befitting that she is taking full advantage of the role she is currently in and with such grace under pressure. If you research her life she has always had style but always stayed true to her desire to help others and work in the diplomacy field. As someone who has similar interest like hers, again, I like that she has not taken the conventional path to diplomacy but she is still pursuing what is passionate to her and ignites a fire in her soul. (And) Finally Valencia D. Clay an amazing activist, author and teacher in Baltimore, Maryland. If you research her - she has an in-depth and creative website - she is very vocal on her journey as an educator. She admits there are times she has wanted to quit, she is open about a personal illness that she has, and above all she's real. Teaching is not an easy job nor is it the most glamorous but when you meet someone who is living their truth - their passion - it becomes alluring. She has written a book, modeled and even has a partnership with Macy's! Y'all it's because she is living her truth and her number 1 focus is still education! Making sure that the exposure she receives inspires and affects her students (in a positive way). She is currently working on her Ph.d All three of these woman are living their truths. They are doing what sets a fire to their soul and in the most unconventional ways. If you follow their lives -doors of opportunity are opening for them left and right in ways no one could imagine. It's unconventional but it's real - it's true - it's motivational - it's inspiring thousands of young woman that you too can pursue your passion.
And then let's just look at these facts:
All of these are women, they are minorities, and all under 40.
Female leaders for the win.
